Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981)
Another cult classic, The Road Warrior is the second in a series of films portraying a post-apocalyptic view of civilization in the Australian outback. In this setting, fuel is precious, and fuel-efficient motorcycles figure prominently. The colorful characters who ride these bikes can be compared to the gangs of the old American West, especially with the sparse and arid landscape as the backdrop.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Okay, this isn’t really a “motorcycle” movie from the standpoint of the motorcycle purist. But you have to admit that the pre-gubernatorial Arnold Schwarzenegger was pretty darn cool in the Terminator movies. Terminator 2 made his now pro-resistance character even cooler, as he steals a tricked out Harley Davidson Fatboy—as well as the clothes and boots—from an unsuspecting biker in a rough and tumble biker bar. The bike features throughout most of the film, so one could say it’s a motorcycle movie.
World’s Fastest Indian (2005)
This movie is based on the true story of Burt Munro, who set out to break the world land speed record at the famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in the 1960s. The quirky and affable New Zealander rides his super-modified 1920 Indian Scout motorcycle, achieving the world record in his class. Munro is somewhat of a legend in the motorcycling world, with a number of speed records under his belt.
