Travelling on the UK’s roads is safer than it’s ever been, but this is no reason for commuters to become complacent. Whilst cars are safer than at any stage in their development, and factors such as driver education and the spread of speed cameras have resulted in better driving standards, accidents can still happen and the sad truth is that often, no matter how careful you are personally, and how high your levels of concentration, the negligence of another party can lead to an accident which injures you.
This is even more the case if you happen to be one of the road users who opt for a motorbike as their mode of transport. It seems obvious that a bike of this kind is less safe than a car. In basic terms it lacks the protective steel shell of a car, as well as more advanced safety features such as crumple zones, airbags and anti-lock braking. On top of that, there is the issue of balance when travelling at speed on only two wheels and the fact that other road users tend to be negligent when it comes to paying full attention to the presence of motorbikes.
